Waitlist (current phase)

Prowl is currently in pre-launch. At this stage, the only data we collect is your email address, submitted voluntarily via our waitlist form.

• What we collect: Email address only.
• Why: To notify you when Prowl launches and grant you early access.
• Legal basis: Consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)) — you chose to sign up.
• How long we keep it: Until Prowl launches or you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first.
• To be removed: Email info@joinprowl.com and we will delete your address promptly.

The sections below describe how we will handle data once the full Prowl app is live.

2.3 Purchase information

When you buy Cubs or a Prowl subscription, payment is processed by Apple/Google or our payment provider. We receive a transaction confirmation but never see or store your full payment card details.

3. How we use your data

• Providing the service: Showing your profile to potential matches, delivering messages, processing Flirts, enabling video calls, managing your Cubs balance.
• Safety & moderation: Detecting fake accounts, enforcing community guidelines, reviewing reported content.
• Improving Prowl: Analysing anonymised usage patterns to improve matching, features, and user experience.
• Communications: Sending match notifications, message alerts, and (with your consent) marketing updates.
• Legal compliance: Responding to lawful requests from authorities, enforcing our Terms of Service.

4. Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR)

• Contract: Processing necessary to provide you with the Prowl service (Art. 6(1)(b)).
• Legitimate interests: Safety, fraud prevention, service improvement (Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Consent: Marketing communications, optional location sharing, processing of special category data such as gender identity or sexual orientation (Art. 9(2)(a)).
• Legal obligation: Complying with laws and regulations (Art. 6(1)(c)).

5. Who we share your data with

• Other Prowl users: Your profile, photos, bio, and messages are visible to other users as part of the service.
• Service providers: Hosting, analytics, push notifications, payment processing — all bound by data processing agreements.
• Safety & legal: Law enforcement when required by law; other users' reports may include your profile data.

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties.

6. Incognito mode & photo blurring

Prowl offers privacy features within the app:

• Incognito mode: Hides your profile from discovery. You can still browse but won't appear to others.
• Blur photos until match: Your photos remain blurred to non-matched users, revealed only upon mutual match.

These features control visibility to other users but do not affect data we store on our servers.

7. Data retention

• Active accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
• Deleted accounts: Upon account deletion, we remove your profile, photos, and messages within 30 days. Certain data (transaction records, safety reports) may be retained for up to 3 years for legal and safety purposes.
• Inactive accounts: Accounts inactive for 12 months may be flagged for deletion with prior notice.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data (Subject Access Request).
• Rectify inaccurate data — edit your profile directly or contact us.
• Erase your data — delete your account in Settings > Delete account.
• Port your data — request a machine-readable copy.
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., marketing, location).

9. International transfers

Your data is primarily stored in the UK/EEA. Where we use service providers outside this region, we ensure adequate safeguards are in place (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions).

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, regular security audits, and secure development practices. No system is 100% secure — if you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately.

11. Age restriction

Prowl is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we discover an underage account, we will delete it and all associated data immediately.

12. Video calls

Video calls on Prowl are peer-to-peer where possible. We do not record video or audio content. Call metadata (duration, participants, timestamp) is logged for safety and billing purposes (Cub charges).

13. Cookies & similar technologies

Our website and web app use essential cookies for functionality and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand usage. You can manage cookie preferences at any time via the cookie banner or your browser settings.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the app or email. Continued use of Prowl after changes constitutes acceptance.
